Nervecept Formula: What Is in 699 mg, and What Each Share Means

Quick answer

The Nervecept formula lists eight active lines that add up to 699 mg per capsule. Glucosamine sulfate is 500 mg, or 71.5% of that weight. Boswellia, chondroitin and turmeric share most of the rest. Four plant and amino lines sit at 8 mg each. The label prints every amount and has no blend.

What is the Nervecept formula by weight?

The Nervecept formula is 699 mg of listed actives in each capsule. Eight lines make up that total, and each one has an exact amount on the label.

Glucosamine sulfate is 500 mg. Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrata) is 67 mg. Chondroitin sulfate and turmeric root are 50 mg each. Quercetin, methionine, MSM and bromelain are 8 mg each.

The total counts actives only. The shell and rice flour weights are not printed.

  8. 8Bromelain (Ananas comosus)(stem)8 mg · 1.1% of the actives · Plant extracts

From the Supplement Facts panel on the label: every line has an exact amount, and no line has a Daily Value. The capsule shell (hypromellose) and rice flour are not counted. The glucosamine is made from shellfish (crayfish).

How big is each share of the formula?

Glucosamine is 71.5% of the actives. That is 500 of 699 mg, or nearly three parts in four.

The rest is small. Boswellia is 9.6%. Chondroitin and turmeric are 7.2% each. The four 8 mg lines together are 32 mg, or 4.6%.

What does a big share tell you?

A big share tells you what the capsule is mostly made of. It does not tell you that the capsule works.

Glucosamine is a joint ingredient. In the large GAIT trial, 1,500 mg a day did not beat placebo for knee pain overall (Clegg et al., NEJM 2006 (GAIT)). The capsule holds 500 mg, one third of that dose.

Chondroitin shows the same gap. Trials used 800 to 1,200 mg a day (Reginster et al., CONCEPT trial 2017). The capsule has 50 mg, about one sixteenth of 800.

The trials were about knees and hips, not nerves. So a matching dose would not prove a nerve benefit. A small dose does not prove no effect either. It means no study has tested this mix.

What is not in the Nervecept formula?

The formula has no vitamin B12, B6 or B1, no alpha-lipoic acid, no acetyl-L-carnitine, no PEA and no biotin. It has no proprietary blend either.

The sales-page FAQ mentions biotin and a blend, and one answer names a different product. The label shows eight lines with exact amounts, so we follow the label (Nervecept sales page).

One more fact matters for your safety. The glucosamine comes from crustacean shells, and the label says "CONTAINS: Shellfish (Crayfish)." Skip the capsule if you have a shellfish allergy (FDA, Food Allergies).

See the full list on the ingredients page.

How do you use the formula safely?

Take one capsule a day with 8 oz of water, as the label says. Do not take more.

Check first

Keep taking prescribed medicine. Glucosamine may add to the effect of warfarin, so ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take a blood thinner. Ask too if you are pregnant, nursing or under 18.

FAQ01

Nervecept questions people ask

What percent of the Nervecept formula is glucosamine?

Glucosamine sulfate is 71.5% of the listed actives. That is 500 mg of 699 mg per capsule. The label rounds nothing else, so this is simple division.

Does the Nervecept formula use a proprietary blend?

No. The label lists eight lines with exact amounts and no blend. The sales-page FAQ says otherwise, which looks like a copy error, so we follow the label.

Why are four Nervecept ingredients only 8 mg?

The maker does not say. Eight milligrams is far below the studied amounts for quercetin, MSM and bromelain, and a food-like amount for methionine.
